Florence & Rome

There's free parking at Castiglione del Lago station and it's the most stress free way to get to both cities is by train.

The Trenitalia website is surprising easy to use.

When visiting Museums etc, please only book through the official sites, there are lots of ticket companies looking to charge 3 times the correct price.

Florence

Two thirds of the greatest art in the world is in Italy, and over half of that is in Florence. Contender for most beautiful city in the world, it's likely to be crowded, but still very well worth visiting.

Only 90 minutes from Castiglione, this is very much doable in a day.

Rome

There is still an astonishing amount of ancient Rome to see, along with the Vatican, and spectacular Baroque squares.

Although visitable in a day, ideally don't try to fit too much in.
