Saint Peter's

The sheer scale of both the basilica and the square is astonishing.

​If you're trying to fit a lot into one day, that should be enough, but if you have the time, the Vatican Museum is really quite something.

The Vatican museum is vast and extraordinary, but let's face it, you'll be going for the most famous ceiling in the world!

Do allow time to drink in some of the other treasures too.

If you're going to the Forum as well, get a combo ticket, it represents pretty good value.

Extraordinary well preserved due to staying in permanent use.

One of the most beautiful buildings in the world. 

You will need to dress appropriately as you will in all the Roman churches.

Piazza Navona

Close to the Pantheon you'll find Rome's second most famous square. There's generally lots of life here.

And we needed something on the list you didn't have to pay to see!
